Five Elements guide

Five Elements are the language of balance, movement, support, and control in a chart.

Browse by symbol, then return to the full chart

These index pages collect common lookup terms, but each symbol should still be interpreted through season, strength, combinations, and timing.

Index method

Read Five Elements as movement, not as a missing-item checklist

Five Elements describe movement, support, control, leakage, and transformation. Counting elements is only a starting observation; the reading depends on season, roots, and relationships.

01

Quantity is not enough

A visible element can be weak, while a hidden or seasonal element can be decisive.

02

Season changes use

Wood in spring, Fire in summer, Metal in autumn, and Water in winter do not behave like off-season appearances.

03

Balance is contextual

A chart may need regulation, warmth, moisture, structure, or release rather than simply more of a missing element.

Use the chart for the question in front of you

Start with the birth data, keep the chart visible, and choose the next layer by the actual question: structure, timing, relationship, or annual context.
